Today's eco-freakiness is brought to you by the makers of Preserve toothbrushes. How I found out about them is a funny story ("funny ha-ha," I think, but you might think "funny strange"). After getting a bad flu, I read you should change your toothbrushes, and, determined NEVER to get sick again, I went to Target and stocked up -- and then was immediately hit with a horrific wave of eco-guilt: all those toothbrushes! Into the landfill!
I raced to the computer to search for "recycled toothbrushes" and found Preserve, which are made from recycled plastic AND are available at Trader Joe's (of which there are three within walking distance of me)! Also, they take old Brita water pitcher filters, which they turn into more toothbrushes. So I've been collecting them all from friends and family to send in. If you a similarly eco-compelled, here's the info: Brita => Toothbrushes. I donated a bunch of the toothbrushes I bought to a homeless shelter. They'll still be landfill eventually but at least they will serve a good purpose on their way there... 1/25/2010 09:43:05 pm
I went to the dentist yesterday, and they gave me a new toothbrush, so this is uber timely. My kids go through brushes like... uh... I go through truffles? Comments are closed.
